If your Kaba lock is blinking red three times when you insert your key card and it’s not unlocking, the possible reason is the Kaba lock is in the lockout model. Now, you should use the Emergency keycard to swipe on the lock to remove the security lockout.

If a keycard is used but not unlocked:

  1. Keycard Not Properly Encoded: Re-encode the key card using your property’s key encoding system. Ensure you follow the correct procedure and that the card encoder functions properly.
  2. Keycard Encoded for the Wrong Room/Section/Group: Double-check the room or area the key card is supposed to access. Re-encode the key card with the correct access permissions.
  3. Keycard Has Expired: Key cards can be set to expire after a certain time for security reasons. If the card has expired, you must issue a new one with a valid time frame.
